ICASO is pleased to announce the launch of our AIDS 2016 community guide in partnership with ICAD, and as an important way to mark World AIDS Day and link to the 21st International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2016).
As a gateway to AIDS 2016, the site is tailored for communities and individuals around the world who are interested in learning about or planning to attend the conference that will take place in Durban, South Africa in July 2016. The theme of AIDS 2016, Access Equity Rights Now, reflects the need to leave no one behind as we work together to end AIDS.
Much has been achieved in the 15 years since the conference was last held in Durban. Yet systemic barriers that impede effective HIV prevention and transmission program remain. That is why we are committed to ensuring that communities of people living with and affected by HIV everywhere, and in particular key populations, are represented in all aspects of AIDS 2016. AIDS 2016 gives us the opportunity to work together.
Our outreach site is one tool that can help make this a reality. We invite you to contribute and share information related to the conference, and to add your voice to it, as it should be a community-driven platform. In addition, we will continue to post information about the Global Village and other events, as well as reminders about upcoming deadlines. We also invite you to share information through Twitter @aids2016, and be sure to tag posts #aids2016 and #aids2016community.
