ICASO is debuting something that has never before been seen at the International AIDS Conference – ICASO pop-up classes on the sciences behind HIV.
The ICASO pop-up classes are an innovative strategy which seeks to create a unique and dynamic learning experience to explore the basics of various essential sciences which underpin so much of the content at the conference.
One of the best parts of the International AIDS Conferences is that they bring together so many passionate people who work in the area of HIV. Everyone comes with their own areas of expertise. The pop-up classes are a way to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and evidence across the wide spectrum of delegates. There are three different classes – Epidemiology for Everyone, The Science behind U=U and Basic Science for Basically Anyone.
Using only a banner to set the stage, the format is a pop-up style 10-15 mins on the basics of a scientific discipline, literally popping up anywhere and everywhere across the conference venue. Each class has 2-3 presenters who have worked together to create the content and deliver the pop-up class twice a day.
In the words of Kevin Osborne, Director of HIV Programmes and Advocacy at the IAS; “What a great idea – innovative, creative and much needed!”
During the week of the conference, make sure you catch one of these innovative pop-up classes to heighten your conference experience and be a part of something ground-breakingly dynamic.
